About Shannon Airport
New Terminal Development
In August 1996, the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications
gave approval for a major airport development plan to be carried out
in two phases over the coming years. The first phase, costing IR£23m
will begin in 1998 and is due for completion by the Year 2000. The project
involves the provision of a new Departures Hall, Baggage Area and the
complete refurbishment of the existing Arrivals Concourse at Shannon
Airport.
The new roadway system to complement this development
is currently under construction and is scheduled for completion by July
1998
CAT II - Airfield Lighting
An upgrading of the approach lighting system for the main runway
has been completed, together with engineering and electrical works associated
with the Runway CAT II operation.

Coaches
You can get to Shannon Airport from virtually any point throughout
Ireland with Bus Eireann.
Regular services are available via our Terminal Building
to ENNIS or LIMERICK. Onward connections are available to and from DUBLIN,
CORK, GALWAY, KERRY, WATERFORD, WEXFORD, MIDLANDS, SLIGO, MAYO etc.
Car Parking
Car parking facilities at the Airport include:
- Long Term Car Park
Special rates are available for Frequent Users of Car parking facilities
at Shannon Airport.
- Short Term Car Park
Customers using the car parking facilities at the Airport for less
than 24hrs should use the Short Term car park.
Taxis
Passengers arriving by Taxi will be set down on the Departures Courtyard,
directly outside the Terminal Building.
Taxis are available at the 24 hour TAXI DESK in the ARRIVALS
HALL. Rates of hire are displayed at the desk or may be obtained from

Rail
You can use the IARNROD EIREANN'S frequent InterCity Train Service
to and from LIMERICK which has a regular bus connection from its Railway
Station to SHANNON AIRPORT.

2 hours 15 minutes.
- Limerick - Cork - Limerick
8 trains in either direction on weekdays - average journey time
1 hour 45 minutes.
