About the Tenerife
Tenerife is the biggest island of the archipelago.
There are varied landscapes: a mountain range with the mighty
volcanic crater Cañadas del Teide, with a diameter of 20
kilometers, and the 3.718 meters high Teide in its center; extremely
fertile valleys with cultures of bananas and tomatoes; and a seaside
offering as well beautiful steep coasts as wide beaches of fine
sand.
About Tenerife Norte Airport
Tenerife Norte airport is located to the north
of the Island, in the municipality of San Cristobal de la Laguna,
the airport is just 10 kilometres from the capital (Santa Cruz
de Tenerife).
Traffic is mainly of domestic nature, with over 50 per cent of
these domesting flights being connecting flights to the other
islands in the archipelago: Gran Canaria, La Palma, Lanzarote,
Fuerteventura, El Hierro and La Gomera. In addition, there are
scheduled domestic flights to other airports in the rest of Spain,
such as Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona, Seville and Bilbao.
During 2005 the airport handled 3,754,333 passengers, 60,229
operations and 22,161 tonnes of cargo.
