Santander is a regional capital and a popular holiday resort that offers award-winning sandy beaches, excellent shopping and a host of restaurants, bars and hotels. The ferry port is in the centre of town, so a car is not essential. The stunning surrounding countryside and mountains are well worth exploring. Santander provides good road connections to the whole of Spain and the South of France.

About Santander Airport

Santander airport is five kilometres from the city, in the locality of Maliaño, municipality of Camargo, on the western side of the Bay.

Reform and extension works have been carried out in the last few years to provide the airport with improved infrastructures and services.

Santander airport's air traffic is made up mostly of domestic and international commercial airline flights that tend to be scheduled.

During 2005 the airport handled 644,662 passengers, 16,147 flight operations and 343 tonnes of cargo.
