Bergen Airport
About Bergen Airport
Bergen Airport is situated 12 miles (20 kilometers) south
of Bergen. It has only one public terminal. Bergen Airport is about
25 minutes away from the center of Bergen, depending on the traffic.
Modern, compact, well equipped, Bergen Airport has all conveniences,
like duty free shops and souvenir stores. There are no voice announcements.
Taxis wait outside Bergen Airport. They do go faster than
the airport bus, but they cost a lot more. If you are travelling during
the morning or evening peak periods you will need to allow extra time
for sitting in stationary traffic.
Airport bus
The best way to get into center of Bergen is by the frequent bus service.
To the airport: leaving from Radisson SAS Royal Hotel at Bryggen, via
Radisson SAS Hotel Norge and the bus station (platform 17) to the airport
and return (the same route). Approx. 25 minutes bus ride at off-peak
hours. For departure times, inquire with the airlines or at the Tourist
Information (roughly: departs three times per hour, less frequently
on weekends). The Bergen Card does NOT include transportation from or
to the airport.
Taxis
Almost all of the taxi drivers in Bergen are English speaking. If you
are going elsewhere than the center of Bergen, a taxi might be a wise
choice. You can ask the driver to tell you about Bergen, places to visit,
etc. Most of the taxis are high quality cars, like Mercedes and Volvo.
