Salzburg Airport
About Salzburg Airport
The "municipal airport" in Salzburg was opened
on 16 August 1926. Germany's Lufthansa started serving the Munich-Salzburg-Reichenhall
route with a daily flight in the year of foundation, using a Fokker
II D-766.
After World War II, Salzburg Airport became the "cradle
of Austrian aviation". A concrete runway was available as early
as 1944. In 1958, the Federal Government, the City of Salzburg and the
Salzburg Regional Government decided to reconstruct the runway, which
has a length of 2,750 m today.
With 4 million people living in its catchment area and
1.3 million passengers a year, Salzburg Airport is Austria's largest
regional airport. It can proudly call itself today "The gateway
to the Alps".

There are several car parks situated very near to the Salzburg Airport
